THAT GIRL

ImagenBlogPost-LGC1 (1)

I stared at her, that girl

Lying so silently, waiting

Never was I so shy

Pausing at every breath

Hesitation growing with each bend

Of that mighty river roaring

At which she, with much caress

Mused quietly absorbing

Who am I, I whispered coy

To approach this woman fetching

Water from the river ever growing

I, but a homely beggar boy

Pondering at sheer perfection

Such that cannot be transcribed

On the finest Pergamum scroll

But only with the lowly scraps

Of paper, left over from writing.

“You are the stars, and I the moon”

I would have written to that girl
